• Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which casino gaming is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are situated in a relatively tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a prime destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat casino, contains 150 one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel complex that contains many luxuries in addition to the gambling den, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machines and eighty eight table games.
